Should Students Bring Pets to School?

Should we bring pets into school?  Everybody on our team gave us their opinions about this idea.

One of our classmates, Hunter, thinks that we should NOT bring pets into school because children could get allergies.  This would not be fair to those students. They need to be able to come to school, and not have an allergy attack due to pets being there.

Another one of our classmates, Darrian, thinks pets should be allowed in school because pets are sure to be a pleasure for students, and they are fun to play with and relax with.

“Google” said, we shouldn’t because it is a distraction and takes away valuable class time. Some students might have a hard time focusing on the teacher when animals are in the room.

In conclusion, we should ban pets from schools from now on for all of the reasons stated above.

What Age Should Kids Get Smart Phones?

Our classmates debated this topic: What age is too young to have your own smartphone?  We have compiled our classmates’ opinions to share with all of you!

One of our classmates, said that she thinks kids under 9 should not have a smartphone because that is just too young.  Another of our friends, said, “I think kids that are 10 years old like me they should have a phone 11!” We think maybe Tristan is getting a little ahead of himself!

One other kid on our team, said, “The age that is too young to have an iPhone is probably 3,  because the phone will probably be too big for your hands!” We think there is more to think about than the size of our hands!

In conclusion, after gathering everyone’s feedback and opinions, we feel that age 9 or 10 is what our teammates’ feel is the best age for getting a smartphone.  Our parents may not agree with that opinion, however, that is what our teammates think!

R-Ox Stars NEWS!

Welcome to our R-Ox Stars News Blog!  We are excited to have you as a reader.  Our job is to share with you all of the latest events and important news of our fourth grade classmates.

We are so excited to announce that we had our very first CVIS skating party on October 17!  It was a lot of fun, and many CVIS students got the chance to hang out together. We sure hope there were no injuries from falling on their skates!

The Hanover Halloween parade and Trick or Treat night were recently rescheduled because of severe weather.  It was a good thing that they rescheduled these events because parts of New Oxford and Gettysburg all got flooded!

Alyssa, one of our classmates, got sick on the 10th of October.  We hope that she is feeling better and doesn’t get sick again.

Elizabeth, a student in Mrs. McMaster’s homeroom got to make candles with her mom.  We think that sounds very interesting and fun! We hope you had fun, Elizabeth!

Now for the big news: Brycen’s mom is having twins!  Eakkkkkk! Our team is VERY excited for Brycen and his family!  We cannot wait to hear if the twins will be boys or girls!

Two other events that our classmates have shared include: Brittney went camping, and Taylor went to her grandparents’ house to visit!  We hope you both had fun!  Finally, Aaliyah just had a new baby brother in October! Congratulations!

We would like to give a shout out to this month’s birthdays: Cory Wolfe, Erin Karnas, and Brittney Cox!!  Happy Birthday, everyone!!!!

Fourth Graders SHOULD Have Two Recesses Every Day!

Should fourth graders have two recesses everyday? Everybody on our team who gave us their opinion, feels that we should have two recesses every day.

One of our classmates, Dylan thinks that we should have two recesses because recess seems to be really short. This would make a lot of kids happy; plus it would give time for teachers to relax and get us out of their hair!

Another classmate, Hudson, says that it would give us a lot of exercise and get us fit and work off the calories from lunch. Megyn, from Mrs. McMaster’s homeroom, says that more recess time would give us a chance to make new friends, and it would give us a chance to embrace nature.

Jason, a fourth grade R-Ox Star, says that having two recesses would actually calm us down. After all of that running around, who wants hyperactive kids? Fourth graders would actually be settled to learn more.

In conclusion, fourth graders agree that we should have two recesses every single day. This proves to only help us learn more!

Debate: Should Fourth Graders Have Year-Round School?

We are trying to find an answer to this question: Should we have school year-round?

We surveyed our whole team of fourth graders.  Our team’s conclusion: Everybody said, “ NO!” Even us!

One classmate, Emma Clark said, “We should not have school year-round, because we should be able to rest, have fun, and relax!”  We agree with her because we need to have a break from learning and waking up way too early for school everyday.

One boy on our team, Crosby Mitchell also said, “No, we should not have school year-round because we already have school for 180 days, and we learn a lot in that time.  That is why we should not attend school year-round.”

As one fourth grader, Savannah Ringley said, “No, we should not have year-round school, because summer break is to have fun and not learn in the classroom.”

Only one of our classmates, Landry Crabbs said, “I like to see my friends and my teachers. We should have school year-round.”  So, that means she loves to come to school and she wants school year-round.

We think a lot of people think we should NOT have school year-round. They all think we need a break from school and should continue to get a break from learning in the summertime.  As one classmate, Yaritza Forry said, “No, we should not have school year-round because we should have a summer break to relax our brains.”

So, overall, the majority of our classmates agree that we should NOT have school year-round. If teachers think we need more time for learning, all of the opinions we just shared should change their minds.  We think the teachers and the few who would vote for year-round school would be wrong if they said that our summer breaks are not necessary, because we need a summer break to relax from learning.

In conclusion, the majority of our classmates who gave us their opinions would agree that we should definitely not have year-round school.

Fourth Graders Should Have Two Recesses Every Day

We are trying to persuade Dr. Armacost and Dr. Corbin to have two recesses every day at CVIS.

One of our classmates, Jaxon, said, “I think we should have two recesses, so we can spend time with our friends and work on collaborative conversations.  It is good for our health, too. We can play soccer, football, and four-square. That’s why we should have two recesses every day.”

Another of our classmates, Geo, said, “I think we should have extra recess, because we need to relax from working hard in school. Two recesses would give us a much needed break.  We can talk to friends who we can’t normally talk to because they are in different classes.”

In conclusion, after hearing feedback from our classmates and discussing this as a blog team, we conclude that fourth graders should have two recesses during the school day.  In physical education class, we are learning how to live a healthier life. If we have two recesses, we can practice the healthy habits we are learning in class.

Thank you for reading our blog post.
